Grover Zampa Sauvignon Blanc Bangalore, India 2020Regular price $15.00
Yes, you are reading this label correctly. That does indeed say Bangalore, INDIA. How could this happen you ask? Well, it did take several decades, but labors of love are like that. It began with an engineer, as we’re finding so many wine stories do for some reason? Kanwal Grover, an importer of high-tech machinery (think space program), fell in love with French wines during his many trips to Europe back in the 60s. The perfect vineyard and the perfect French consultant finally aligned in the early 90s and the first Grover grapes were planted.
Fast forward to now, in the Nandi Hills just north of Bangalore, where row after row of noble grapes flourish in the Indian sun. This Sauvignon Blanc drinks like a warm weather white should, full of tropical fruits like guava and gooseberry, with layers of flavor that unfold to a crisp, punctual acidity just in time to finish refreshingly.
Food Ideas: samosas and pakoras (duh), fish tacos, squash blossom quesadillas, pad thai, tuna and avocado salad
