Familia Montana Reserva 2015 (Rioja, Spain)
The Montaña family has been in the wine business almost a hundred years, with coveted cellar real estate in the catacombs beneath the Rioja capital of Haro to prove it. Tempranillo is the star of the show here, but the winery also blends in a touch of the native Graciano grape for softness, and Mazuelo for deeper flavor.
Aged 18 months in French and American oak, this blend is ripe but with ample structure, having seen about a year and a half in oak. It can age a couple more years, or will also be delicious now with about 30 minutes of air.
Food Ideas: Thanksgiving! eggplant timballo, Moroccan spiced chicken tagine, and, of course, paella
