370 Leguas Douro, Portugal 2017Regular price $12.00
Named after the historic dividing line between Portugal and Spain’s colonies, determined in a long ago treaty, this wine does have a leg in two eras it seems. Made from indigenous Portugeuse varietals grown along the riverside slopes of the Douro, it also exhibits a fresh and ripe modern style. Perhaps owing to the state of the art winery it’s produced in, allowing for cold maceration and fermentation in large steel vats.
The darl fruit is lush and dense, with hints of vanilla on the nose. Voluptuous tannins and earthy spice break up the richness with a little texture. Give 30-45 minutes of air.
Food Ideas: braised beef and mushroom stew, charred tomato and corn salad, grilled sardines on white bean puree, fra diavolo pasta
