Cave de Pomerols 'HB' Picpoul de Pinet 2020 (Languedoc, France)
The Cave de Pomerols Co-op (around since 1932) is located near the Étang de Thau, a coastal salt water lagoon situated between the port of Sète and Marseillan. Here they grow Picpoul, which translates as lip-stinger and gained its name due to its tart acidity. Despite the hot dry climate of the area, we're pleased to say that this white wine lives up to the name.
We get ripe stone fruits and lemon zest on the nose and palate with seafood- friendly salinity, good acidity, and citrus peel. The perfect lip-stinger (smacker?) for any occasion.
Food Ideas: Oysters, any seafood, picnic fare, sushi, gazpacho, flatbread with olive tapenade, zucchini gratin with herbed goat cheese
Alcohol: 14.1% (we don't think the alcohol is really this high. Probably left over from tariffs (wines over 14% alcohol weren't subject to tariffs).
