Domaine de Beauregard Melon de Bourgogne Loire Valley (Muscadet) France 2019Regular price $14.00
Repeat after us -- This is NOT a sweet Muscat. Not that we don’t like a good Muscat, but this wine couldn’t be much more different. THIS is the Melon de Bourgogne grape, from the coastal Muscadet appellation, at the western edge of France’s Loire Valley. You know what else comes from here? Oysters. They were made for each other.
Dry and crisp, it has a lovely minerality. You can almost taste sea spray from the nearby Atlantic. There’s a generous array of citrus and apple to brighten the lovely weight. All this from organic grapes. Simply wonderful.
Food Ideas: Please see above, also: cauliflower gratin, broccoli rice casserole, ham and gruyere omelette, steamed clams and chorizo
