Artuke 'Pies Negros' 2018 (Rioja, Spain)
More description to come-
This 90% Tempranillo and 20% Graciano blend is sourced from 15 different plots in the village of Ábalos. Some of the oldest vines were planted in 1902, with the newest being planted in 2014, and each bringing their own unique sense of personality to the wine. Winemakers Arturo and Kike de Miguel Blanco practice organic wine production and harvest manually, and the grapes are macerated by foot treading, hence the name of the wine! Concrete vat fermentation and ample acidity means that this wine is as fresh as it is austere. It would be very happy in a lineup with some of our favorite Cru Beaujolais wines or Austrian reds.
