Brard Blanchard 'Les Couleurs de Sophie' Le Blanc Sec 2021 (Charentais, France)
The Brard Blanchard family has been farming in Charente for generations, producing wines of all styles (including Pineau des Charentes) as well as Cognac, which the region is famed for. Now helmed by Sophie Brard Blanchard, the family’s 20 hectares of vineyards and 7 hectares of grains are farmed organically and biodynamically.
This white is a blend of 50% Ugni Blanc and a 50% mix of Sauvignon Blanc and an obscure varietal called Arriloba. A beautiful pearly white-gold in the glass, this wine is superbly dry, mineral and lively. Ample notes of citrus lend an outstanding acidity to the wine, balanced by notes of tropical fruit and a hint of honey, all punctuated by a long, mineral finish.
Food Ideas: Sea bream tartare, ricotta gnocchi with sage cream sauce, pork katsu sandwich, pierogi ruskie, oysters any type of way
ABV: 12%
