The aromatic white Kerner grape, named after a poet who composed odes to wine (dream job), is thought to be a cross between Trollinger and Riesling. We see it coming from cooler climates like Germany, Northern Italy, and Slovenia, for its ability to withstand cold winter temperatures. Rumor has it there have been successful plantings here in Michigan, so perhaps we should become better acquainted?

The palate is fleshy with white peach and mango, full and weighty but not cloying. A pithy grapefruit acidity cleans up the finish to balance the fruit, and the slightly floral aromas will linger.
