Domaine de la Voute des Crozes Cote-de-Brouilly 2021 (Beaujolais, France)
Beginning her wine career in 1970 and taking over the family domaine in 1988, winemaker Nicole Chanrion is a powerhouse of a vigneronne. Affectionately referred to as ‘La Patronne de la Côte,’ Chanrion works her 6.5 hectares entirely by herself, from pruning the vines and driving the tractors to winemaking and bottling. It’s no surprise she’s garnered so much respect from her peers.
All that work pays off! This Côte-de-Brouilly is deeply complex yet so drinkable, structured yet velvety, juicy and crunchy with a slightly herbaceous nose. The palate is subtly spicy and full of rich, pure red fruit with good acidity and a long finish.
Food Ideas: Roast chicken with Herbs de Provence, tea smoked duck with plum sauce, caramelized leek pasta, skirt steak with herby chimichurri
ABV: 14.5%
