Plenković Zlatan Posip Vrhunsko Vino (White Wine) Dalmatia, Croatia 2020
Let's tackle the grape first, shall we? Posip (pronounced poe-ship) is an indigenous grape to this Adriatic coastal region of Croatia, especially bountiful on the islands, which helped isolate and protect the varietal from the deady phylloxera epidemic. The Plenkovic family has been vinifying Posip from their Zlatan Otok (which translates to "Golden Island") vineyard since the 1990s.
Grown on these sloping hillsides above the sea, the grape is able to preserve plenty of acid to withstand the ripeness brought on by a hot Mediterranean climate. The full silky texture of this wine is balanced beautifully by a touch of salinity, earth, and bright acidity. Enjoy the unique nose of dried stone fruits and sunshine!
Food ideas: spiced chicken tagine, halibut w/blood orange beurre blanc, bouillabaisse, grilled halloumi and olives, fried chinese eggplant
ABV: 13.5
