Romuald Petit Cru Gamay Beaujolais (Saint-Amour) France 2019
Known as the “romantic cru,” Saint-Amour is the most northerly of Beaujolais, closest to Burgundy, in more ways than one. Granite and limestone dominate the soils here, producing bright, fresh Gamay fruit, further elevated by Petit’s low-intervention vinification.
There’s notes of white tea, iron, and loamy earth on the nose. The palate is layered with savory umami, minerality and juicy red fruits. Elegant acidity and mild tannins to finish.
Food Ideas: fennel and blood orange salad, baked white acorn squash, rabbit sugo, mimolette cheese
