San Cassiano Valpolicella Superiore 2020 (Veneto, Italy)
The San Cassiano estate takes its name from the hilly green paradise that is the Mezzane Valley, nestled in the Verona province of Veneto. The well worked soils here provide the perfect terroir for 3rd generation winemaker Mirko Sella to make elegant, refined wines and award-winning olive oils as sustainably as possible.
This Valpolicella is made from 70% Corvina, 15% Molinara and 15% Rondinella, allowed to dry on the vines for a week before pressing to give the wine wonderfully complex, almost spicy notes. This bottle is especially punctuated by the wonderful red cherry notes and a spectacular minerality.
Food Ideas: Pheasant in mushroom sauce, Ratatouille, smash burgers, hearty seafood stew, sausage lasagna, Parmesan Reggiano
