Tenuta Iuzzolini Ciro Rosso Calabria, Italy 2017Regular price $15.00
The Iuzzolini family’s roots in Ciro date back to the 16th century. This is their lovely bottling of Gaglioppo, a grape with origins in Southern Italy, specifically Calabria. It is well suited to the area because the vine
performs well in drought conditions. This wine is fermented in stainless steal and goes through a quick pass of barrique.
We get notes of dark berry mingling with pepper and earthy spice. On the palate the fruit becomes plum, currant, and black cherry with nice acidity balancing the light tannins and spice on the finish.
Food Ideas: pesto pasta with meatballs (or veggie "meatballs" made from chickpeas), braised root vegetables and cabbage, chili
