Thomas Stopfer Zweigelt 1L Niederösterreich, Austria 2018Regular price $12.00
Named after the scientist responsible for its cross-breeding, the Zweigelt grape can be thought of as Austria’s answer to Pinot Noir. It too produces wines that are medium-bodied, agile on the palate, and full of savory aromas. Stopfer’s wine doesn’t see any oak and so is meant to be enjoyed young and fresh!
We get lovely floral notes of violet on the nose, as well as some cinnamon and black pepper spices. Sour cherries and earthy minerality on the palate make this a versatile food wine any time of year.
Food Ideas: smoked chicken, fried brussel sprouts with sofrito, pastrami sandwiches, baba ganoush and falafel
