Mirco Mariotti Fontana dell'Emilia Bianco 'Smarazen' NV
Mirco Mariotti makes wine in the Romagna part of Emilia-Romagna, on the eastern side of the region which is less well known than Emiliana. The area he’s from is a laid back, beachy town where locals drink fizzy wine and play a number of local card games. Mirco actually has named all of his wines after these games! His vines are located in a grand cru growing area called Bosco Elicio, most noted for its proximity to the Adriatic Sea. The mostly old vines (some are over 100 yearrs old!) are planted just 300 meters from the sea, growing right out of the sand.
The ‘Smarazen’ is a blend of 70% Trebbiano Romagnolo and 30% Malvasia do Candia. Dry, savory, and beachy with tons of sea salt minerality, this lightly fizzy wine is a playful everyday sipper perfect for any occasion.
