La Quercia Aglianico 2023 (Puglia, Italy)
Winemaker Antonio Lamona is a second generation grape-grower, but is the first in his family to begin bottling his own wine from his family’s vineyard. Passionately anti man-made pesticides, he has been cultivating his vines entirely organically since the late sixties. Known for making powerful and finessed wines using Puglian varietals, Antonio made no exception here when vinifying the infamously difficult Aglianico grape.
Displaying all of the classic notes of ripe plum, earthy spice, and tobacco, this wine sets itself apart as a brighter and fresher expression of Aglianico. Soft tannins and a plush, fruit forward body make for a ready to drink wine that doesn't need more than 20-30 minutes of air.
Food Ideas: Prime rib, mushroom ragu over creamy polenta, lentil stew with smoked sausage, Moroccan lamb tagine, braised oxtail
ABV: 13%
