Can Tutusaus 'Ona' Negre 2021 (Penedes, Spain)
Marselan is an interesting hybrid varietal, a cross between Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon. While originally developed in France in 1961, the varietal has made a happy home in the mediterranean climate of Penedes. The grapes for this wine are hand harvested from Raimon Badell's estate in mountainous Alt Penedès, within the national protected area of the Massís del Garraf.
Ripe and gulpable with elegant structure, this is an incredibly balanced red wine. Vibrant cherry and strawberry notes provide ample acidity, while brambly berry notes offer a silky texture. The tannins, while very fine, could use a bit of air, perhaps 30-45 minutes.
Food Ideas: Croquetas de jamon, paprika couscous stew with lamb, mujadara with crispy onions, queso fundido with chorizo, cabbage rolls
ABV: 13%
