Martinolles 'Le Berceau' Brut Blanquette de Limoux NV (Languedoc, France)
This lovely sparkler bears the name 'Le Berceau,' meaning 'the cradle,' in reference to the St. Hilaire hillsides where the vineyards reside, believed to be the birthplace of sparkling wine. As with so many delicious French things we enjoy, this style of winemaking was just a lucky accident on the part of some monks hundreds of years ago. Good job guys.
These Mauzac grapes, a traditional varietal for bubbly wine in the Languedoc, are sourced from sustainably farmed vineyards. Nestled in a special pocket between the Atlantic and Mediterranean, and thus benefiting from both climates, this fruit can express savory nuances of crushed stone and fresh bread, alongside bright orchard fruit and mouthwatering acidity. With 9 months on the lees, this wine is a richer, weightier style and will definitely linger on your palate like a Champagne!
Food Ideas: alpine cheeses and fondue, fried chicken, rustic paté or sweetbreads, long-winded celebratory toasts
Alcohol: 12.5%
