M. Giraudon Aligote 2023 (Burgundy, France)
Although relatively unknown, Aligote is the #2 white grape in Burgundy (Chardonnay being #1). Planted in the poorer vineyard sites, this grape gets the last laugh, producing lovely light wines with food-friendly acidity. It is also traditionally used for the cocktail Kir (Crème de Cassis blended with white wine).
While this white has lots of acidity, it also has the weight and balance to pull it off. Apple and pear fruit mingle with stony minerality that lends nice complexity. Whether used for a cocktail or sipped on its own, this wine is definitely worth the price.
Food Ideas: Oysters, curried vegetables and chickpea stew, chicken piccata, tagliatelle w/truffle butter
Alcohol: 12.5%
