Avinyo Petillant Blanc Catalonia (Penedes) Spain 2019
Regular price $15.00/
This zippy (slightly sparkling) refreshing wine is the traditional quaffer of the Penedès region of Catalonia, the home of Cava. Petillant is a vi d’agulla, the Catalan name for ‘prickly wine’, and the bubbles are created by a secondary fermentation in the tank before bottling.
------
This blend of 80% Petit Grain Muscat and 20% Macabeu presents with a dash of herbs along with pear, apple, and citrus peel on the nose and palate with a nice bubble so it finishes clean. On the bottle, they say “Drink with everything” and we agree.
------
Food Ideas: ricotta gnocchi with white wine and speck, fried calamari with sauteed bell peppers, grilled zucchini over polenta, steak or veggie tacos. Also, everything.
