Chateau Musar 'Jeune' Rouge 2020 (Bekaa Valley, Lebanon)
In 1930, inspired by his travels in Bordeaux, Gaston Hochar founded Chateau Musar, which became the first producer in Lebanon to achieve organic certification. They pride themselves on minimal manipulation of the vineyards as well as producing their wines as naturally as possible.
Think of this red blend as Rhone meets Bordeaux (Cinsault, Syrah, and Cabernet). We get nice leathery notes on the nose along with dark concentrated fruit and touches of spice and black pepper. On the palate, there is more of the same with juicy acidity to balance the dark berry fruit. Definitely give this beauty some air, you’ll be thankful you did.
Food Ideas: Grilled octopus topped with chorizo vinaigrette, Moroccan-style chicken pot pie, stuffed grape leaves
