Domaine de Cassagnoles 'Plaisir' Rosé 2022 (Cotes de Gascogne, France)
Leave it to the French to have a word in their language dedicated to the attitude with which one should drink a particular kind of wine. See plaisir: everyday easy drinking. Leave it to this father-daughter winemaking team from SW France to put said word on their rosé bottle lest there be any confusion about the category of enjoyment within.
Made from a blend of sustainably-grown Merlot and Cab Sauv grapes, this rosé saw a bit of skin contact during fermentation, imparting this garnet color and a lush mouthfeel. We get brambly berries and juicy red fruits on this palate, with refreshing acidity and enough texture to stand up to bold food flavors.
Food Ideas: BBQ! blackened fish w/Japanese potato salad, charcuterie, shrimp louis salad, picnic fare
