Domaine De Clovallon "Les Indigenes" Pay D'Herault Languedoc, France 2018Regular price $24.00
You might recognize a certain witchy elegance here, familial to the Mas d’Alezon wines we’ve carried for many years. Daughter Alix Roque, also a low-intervention winemaker, manages this “secret garden” of indigenous co-planted vines, with the help of neighboring farm animals.
We get fresh, forest floor mushrooms and loamy earth on the nose. The palate is full of layers and will open up nicely with time, giving you chewy red fruits and lively acidity. To us, this is what good natural wine can be: wild and handled care-fully. Give up to an hour of air for best results.
Food Ideas: Cassoulet, grilled trout w/ratatouille, braised lamb shank w/port-stewed mushrooms, the Amelie soundtrack…or Stevie Nicks
