Ezimit Plavac Mali 2021 (Ovčhe Pole, Macedonia)
Originating from Croatia, The Plavac Mali grape has found a happy home in the dry, arid Ovčhe Pole region of Northern Macedonia. Long hot summers, cold winters, and wild winds characterize the vast plains that produce unique and wonderfully complex wines.
This red is peppery and loaded with dark fruit like blackberry and black cherry, with a pleasant bitterness reminiscent of cocoa nibs that balances out the brambly fruit. The initially abundant tannins are somewhat deceiving, as with a little bit of air a lovely, mouth-watering acidity becomes pronounced. Around 30 minutes should be plenty of time for this bottle to open up and be ready to impress.
Food Ideas: Wild mushroom risotto, smoked brisket, lamb burgers with feta & arugula, grilled branzino stuffed with herbs, bulgogi beef lettuce wraps.
ABV: 13.5%
