Gonc Winery 'Anna' Rose 2024 (Stajerska, Slovenia)
This charming rosé is made from mostly zametna crnina grapes. Ah yes, of course, don't you always love a good zametna crnina?! It's ok, we have no idea how to pronounce it either. But we do know that it holds the prestige of being the longest-living grape varietal in the world, clocking in at 375 years for a single vine's lifetime! And that it's a traditional varietal in Slovenia, a region whose delicious wines we're beginning to have more and more access to.
The winemaker blends in some pinot noir and blaufrankisch (also all organically grown) to give this rosé a lovely layered complexity and the best of each grape. Wild strawberries and stone fruit carry the palate, with a zippy, eye-opening acidity and nice minerally finish.
Food Ideas: shrimp and szechuan bacon dumplings, cold crab soup, fresh goat cheese and cucumber sandwiches, pork loin w/pickled peaches
ABV: 12%
