H. Clavelin Cremant du Jura Brut Comte Jura France
The French region of Jura is known for their sherry-like fortified wines, but they also produce lovely dry sparkling wines made in the traditional champagne method. Established in 1845, Domaine Hubert Clavelin and his two sons produce wines from 30 hectares of vines in Côte du Jura, a small range of mountains in the province of the Franche-Comte. Their Brut Comte is 100% Chardonnay and comes from high elevation limestone soil.
This Blanc de Blanc gives us granny smith apple with pear and a hint of quince, nice yeasty bready notes providing a creamy acidity to balance with tiny bubbles.
