Mary Taylor Rus Jimenez Manchuela Tinto 2020 (Castilla-La Mancha, Spain)
Rus Jimenez manages her family’s organic farm called Finca el Molar in the Manchuela DO of Castilla-La Mancha. Here she cultivates the rare Moravia Agria grape that grows only in this area of Spain, where the rocky soil gives the wines made here a remarkable minerality.
‘Agria’ means sour in Spanish, a nod to the fairly high natural acidity of the varietal. Here, the delightful acidity combined with semi-carbonic maceration make for a fresh and juicy yet elegant wine. Slightly herbaceous notes meet ripe berry and a subtle savory note that gives this wine so much depth. Truly a beautiful and thoughtful representation of this very special varietal.
