Nicolas Chemarin 'P'tit Grobis' Beaujolais Villages, France 2019
Winemaker Nicolas Chemarin is the fourth generation of his family to farm the family property in Marchampt, a tiny village secluded in the forested hills of western Beaujolais. He is also the only male of his generation to stay in the village, which seems to have earned him the nickname “Petit Grobis”, or “little bear”. We’re not sure why this makes us laugh.
We get pretty cranberry and thyme on the nose and palate along with bright citrus notes, a touch of floral, good acidity with hints of meat, smoke and good minerality.
Food Ideas: Tortilla Española w/jamon, corn grits w/smoked cheese and green chilis, teriyaki salmon, turkey sandwiches
