Saint Damien Rose Gigondas 2022 (Rhone Valley, France)
Gigondas, sometimes referred to as the "little brother" of Chateauneuf du Pape, is known for its powerful reds and we think this rosé follows suit. With a bit more of a Mediterranean climate than some of its northernly Rhone brethren the old-vine cinsault that dominates this blend can take on deep tones of flavor.
The palate is balanced by some lighter-fruited grenache and given texture with some mourvedre, all organically grown. We get spiced red currant and earth on the nose, with berry fruits and minerality on the palate. A round but persistent acidity finishes this rosé memorably. We know it's an investment, but this one is built to last.
Food Ideas: charred black cod w/blood orange beurre blanc, steak tartare, unagi donburi, sous vide half chicken w/whipped celery root puree
ABV: 13.5%
